This series will cover a range of topics including:
- Issues arising from the end of CJRS support and any replacement provisions;
- The current tax issues in relation to residential buy to let and the impact of the pandemic on landlords; and
- Any elections available in respect of personal tax losses incurred in a trade/property business.

Session 1: Covid Support After 31 October
Wednesday 04 November, 14:00 – 15:15
This session will look at issues arising from the end of the CJRS support and any replacement provisions, and any other support available to businesses during the latter part of 2020 and early 2021. It will also explain the tax treatment of support payments already received, and what to do in the event of incorrect claims.

• An understanding of the remaining business support available after CJRS closes on 30 October
• Knowledge of the key tax issues related to Covid support payments
• Confidence in dealing with incorrect claims for support in line with professional requirements.
Session 2: Residential Buy To Let – The Current Environment

This session will refresh you on the current tax issues in relation to residential buy to let and bring you up to date on recent changes and the impact of the pandemic on landlords. It will highlight appropriate advice and topical tax tips relevant to the sector.

• A refresher on the key issues in relation to the current tax treatment of residential letting
• Advice and tips to pass on to client landlords to get the best tax outcomes
• Knowledge of any claims that you might wish to make on behalf of clients.
Session 3: Personal Tax Losses – A Reminder
Wednesday 18 November, 14:00 – 15:15
This session will cover the elections available in respect of personal tax losses incurred either in a trade or property business. It will explain not only what relief is available but how each type of relief is claimed and the effect on tax payments. The session will also highlight where the best relief is available in a number of situations.
What you can learn
• A topical update on the relief of trading and property losses
• Insight into how relief is given and how to assess which reliefs to claim
• An understanding of how the different reliefs affect payment of tax, including payments on account

Rebecca Benneyworth MBE BSc FCA
Rebecca is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. She is a lecturer, writer and consultant on a variety of taxes, lecturing extensively throughout the UK, to accountants, business people and also to HMRC and the Treasury. She has her own accountancy practice based in Gloucestershire, with a variety of small business and personal tax clients.
During the last two years, this has become a 100% digital practice. She is Chair of the HMRC Digital Advisory Group, providing help and support to HMRC in understanding the challenges that Making Tax Digital presents to small businesses and their advisers.
She is also a member of the Admin Burdens Advisory Board, an independent advisory group to HMRC monitoring the burdens which the tax system imposes on businesses.
